________________________________

The session is based on research done by Marloes Slotboom MSc. The study focuses on the use of AI applications in the retail sector and the current adoption of this technology by retailers. Results show that a customer-centric approach is inevitable for retailers to respond to customer demands. Therefore, Marloes created a framework for mapping AI applications along the customer journey. During the workshop, retailers and students will use this framework to support the discussion on AI’s role in the retail industry.

About the author

Marloes graduated recently at RSM where she studied Business Information Management after working for several years in e-commerce and digital marketing. She wrote her thesis in collaboration with AI consulting firm Digital Sundai. Next to her master’s, she started her own digital consulting company, where she gained expertise in digital business and especially marketing strategies used by retailers and other sectors in the Netherlands.

Next to her work, she likes to expand her horizons by travelling and has been living in Barcelona for three years. She is passionate about music and the cultural sector and enjoys volunteering and animal care. Unfortunately, she cannot attend the workshop in person, since she is on a digital nomad journey in Mexico and will be volunteering in the Bolivian jungle when the workshop takes place.
