The Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics is the flagship centre and central hub at Erasmus University Rotterdam that incorporates data, digitisation, artificial intelligence and immersive tech. We’re looking for a project and event manager to start from November 2024.
As our new project and event manager, you work with the ECDA team as well as internal and external colleagues and academics. You’re responsible for the optimal organisation, performance and quality of several ECDA events, projects and educational programmes.

ECDA’s main goal is to prepare society for a data-driven future that is hands-on and human-centred. To guide society towards a sustainable world, AI and algorithms are increasingly used in various areas of our daily lives and therefore have vast potential to create social impact.
In your role, you bring together academic experts, organisation leaders, public and private partners, and students. The goal is to help them to engage in world-class education and research and to circulate meaningful know-how, data analytics, sharing and visualisation tools, and to help them to build a relevant network of society and business partners.
As part of ECDA, you help us to integrate diverse stakeholders via the Erasmus Data Collabrotary, a physical space where we can stimulate people to meet, further collaborate, experiment and innovate. Through ECDA programmes and events, you do your part to increase data and AI literacy and readiness in public, business and academic domains and in society as a whole.

- Facilitates hands-on education and training to executives, academics and students
- Organises exclusive events, challenges, workshops, seminars and summits
- Offers an energetic and diverse learning community that includes stakeholders from public and private organisations, academia and students
- Facilitates multi-disciplinary research and innovation based on over 25 expert practices (all part of ECDA) on data analytics, digitalisation and AI

Job description
Your main tasks include the following:
- Organise ECDA events and programmes – e.g., Leadership challenges with data analyticsOpens external and Leadership challenges with data analytics in higher educationOpens external – for diverse internal (EUR) and external target groups.
- Coordinate smooth collaborations with partners for events and projects in EUR, the Convergence of universities, and external parties.
- Advise on the event portfolio and formats in consideration of the diverse target groups: professionals, academics and students.
- Coordinate diverse ECDA innovation projects and assist in securing deliverables.
- Ensure that events and projects reach their goals and adhere to the budget by monitoring the activities.
- Attend meetings and provide updates about the ongoing events and projects.
- Supervise event student assistants, in consultation with colleagues.
- Participate in the projects and working groups in ECDA.
- As needed, support events and projects by using data-driven dashboards.
- Periodically evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of ECDA activities based on evidence and management information and optimise your evaluations with colleagues.
- Develop processes that contribute to the quality of ECDA services and deliverables.
Job requirement
We require you to have the following qualifications
- Successful completion of education to at least at an HBO, master or bachelor level, and professional and intellectual abilities that are equal to or greater than the level of study
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in an educational setting
- Excellent organisational abilities and a methodical approach to work
- A high level of proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Native fluency in Dutch and fluent spoken and written English skills (minimum C1.1 level)
Do you have solid knowledge of education-related systems such as Canvas? Then you’re at an advantage with regards to this role.
Your competencies should include the following:
- Affiliation with or expertise in data, analytics, artificial intelligence and/or immersive technology is a prerequisite
- Collaborative, strong team player and good communicator
- Meticulous in carrying out work activities and an affinity for administrative processes
- Self-starter; you have a can-do and start-up mentality
- Can deal easily and with multiple simultaneous tasks and deadlines

- Strong numerical skills and analytical abilities

Employment conditions and benefits
We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).
The start date of this position is 01-NOV-2024 and you will be based at the Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics, hosted by the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM). This position is for 1.0 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3,345 to a maximum of € 5,278 gross per month Scale 10 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of 12 months and may be converted into a permanent contract if performance is good and the organisational circumstances remain unchanged.
