We’re proud to share that during the Erasmus Data Summit, we’ve reached a major milestone – the launch of the Rotterdam Social AI Lab.

The launch was enforced by officially handing over the Code of Conduct on Responsible AI to Miranda Saunders, Program Manager Digital Inclusion of the Gemeente Rotterdam. During the past months, we have been working on the code together with the Gemeente Rotterdam, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Techniek College Rotterdam, and Kenniscentrum Creating 010 – Hogeschool Rotterdam, as an essential part of the Rotterdam Social AI Lab.

💡 This set of principles lays the foundation for how we want to develop and use AI in Rotterdam: human-centered, fair, inclusive, and in service of society. By putting co-creation, transparency, and inclusion at the heart of AI, we’re shaping a future where technology strengthens our city and its people.

Our guidelines:

1. Problem and context first;
2. The balance between people – nature – and prosperity;
3. Co-creation in AI;
4. Human dignity;
5. Equality and inclusion;
6. Diversity and pluralism as a foundation;
7. Transparency;
8. AI literacy;
9. Privacy and data protection;
10. Safety and reliability;
11. Accountability;
12. Sovereignty;
13. Accountability and shared ownership.

With this shared commitment, we’re taking a collective step toward an AI future that’s not only efficient or innovative but also socially responsible.

Thank you to everyone involved! We’re excited to keep driving positive societal impact through AI, immersive tech, and data.
