ECDA Insights Social Artificial Intelligence #5

12 May 2022 @ 16:00 17:00

Presenter: Michel Klein (VU)

Title: Social AI for behavior change: lessons learned and challenges

Abstract: Social AI is about the AI technology interacting and collaborating with humans. The goal of my research is to better understand how Artificial Intelligence technology can be used to analyze and interpret human behavior and induce behavior change, with a special focus on health behavior. In this talk, I will give an overview of some insights that we have gained in different studies, e.g. the effect of social comparison on physical activity, and the use of dynamic models to predict the effect of different actions of a behavior change support system, and gamification to increase diet adherence. In addition, I will sketch the outline of a framework that describes how to use psychological knowledge in a technological system to support human behavior change.
