Our Masterclass Digital Energy has officially kicked off! 🚀
Inspiring Opening Lecture
Organized together with 2Tokens, Power of the Many, Osborne Clarke, and Erasmus Centre for Energy Transition, this masterclass is a unique learning journey for professionals who want to understand how digitalization, decentralization, and tokenization are transforming the energy landscape. ⚡
During the first session, we explored decentralized energy systems and how the sector is shifting from traditional centralized grids to local, community-driven networks. Participants also examined how tokenization enables peer-to-peer energy trading and collaboration, supported by real-life case studies and a hands-on workshop.
Throughout the lecture, participants explored the key advantages of tokenization, including greater trust and transparency at lower costs, streamlined operations through standardization and automation, and innovation in rights management through an “administration of rights” approach.
💡 Some highlights from the session:
Dr. Yashar Ghiassi-Farrokhfal, our Academic Director of Smart Energy and Associate Professor of Technology and Operations at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, presented the basics of traditional centralized power systems and the need to shift to more distributed, integrated energy systems. He also shared key design challenges and opportunities with examples of best practices.
Prof. Dr. Dion Bongaerts, our Academic Director of Fintech and Professor of Financial Technology and Data Analytics at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, showed how new financial mechanisms, governance structures, and digital tools can drive innovation and adoption within the energy transition.
Kennard C. Brandenburgh, Chief Commercial Officer at Distro Energy, shared practical insights from the field, showing how these theories and models are being translated into real-world solutions.
By combining academic insights with industry expertise, the session gave participants a clearer view of the emerging trends and concepts driving the energy transition and encouraged them to think about how they can use these insights to foster innovation in their own work and organizations.
