What happens when cultural heritage meets digital innovation?
Recently, we joined the 23rd International Conference on Cultural Economics organized by the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI). It brought together global experts from various disciplines to explore the evolving cultural economics and to foster dialogue and collaboration around culture, policy, and innovation.
The conference was opened by our Digital Human, Digiderius: a symbolic and powerful moment that showcased how digital innovation can breathe new life into cultural heritage. His introduction reflected Erasmus University Rotterdam’s commitment to socially impactful technology and thought leadership.
🙌 It was a pleasure to meet so many curious and engaged visitors at our ECDA booth, introduce our work, exchange ideas on data, digital transformation, and the future of digital culture, and offer a chance to engage more with Digiderius. Our Project and Event Manager Elena Cañas Ochoa and Data Analyst Aaron L. engaged in many inspiring conversations.
Next to that, our Immersive Tech Program Manager, Frederike Manders, took part in ‘The Innovation Panel’, a forward-looking session led by Astrid Manden-Benneker. Together with experts like Bernd Fesel (EIT Culture & Creativity), Wim Pijbes (Droom en Daad), and Diederik Van Dommelen (Gemeente Rotterdam), the panel explored the transformative role of technology and AI in the cultural and creative industries, highlighting both its potential and its challenges.
🎉 Thank you to everyone who visited us! It was a day filled with inspiration and meaningful dialogue.
This conference was organized on behalf of ACEI by Ellen Loots, Astrid Manden-Benneker, Barbara van der Schoot and Jacqueline Kolpa.
