Last Friday, Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics hosted an exciting field trip for the Urban Future. event at our Immersive Tech Space in the Erasmus Data Collaboratory at Erasmus University Rotterdam campus. ๐Ÿš€

Our guests had a chance to explore how the CitiVerse will developโ€”a network of interconnected hybrid and virtual worlds, synchronized with their physical counterparts.

๐Ÿ‘“ An introduction was made by our Executive Director Marcel Van Oosterhout together with Support Engineer Immersive Tech Space at ECDA Marie Kegeleers, and Joris Koolen with Jochem Cooiman from Gemeente Rotterdam. Later on, our guests experienced hands-on demoโ€™s of 3D Rotterdam digital twin, using VR for citizen engagement and several AR/VR demos for urban transformations, including buildings, mobility and climate change. Our visitors also interacted with our Digiderius Erasmus, a digital human coupled to an LLM made alive by REBLIKA – The Character Company, and explored the virtual version of the Erasmus campus in EUR Minecraft campus environment made by ErasmusX.

The Immersive Tech Space allows Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) to innovate education in new, inclusive, and sustainable ways. Immersive technologies facilitate real-life experiments and experiences linked to research engagement, making knowledge exchange with practitioners more effective. The Immersive Tech Space is an initiative by the Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics, ErasmusX, and researchers from various faculties of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
