EDC support
As data becomes central to research, education and innovation, the Erasmus Data Sandbox provides a secure, powerful and flexible place to explore ideas, test hypotheses and build solutions. As one of the first core programmes of the EDC, the Sandbox gives researchers, commercial partners and startups a safe “playground” for prototyping data-science and AI solutions.
The Sandbox integrates cutting-edge infrastructure, tooling and collaboration features. EDC’s platform engineer designs and maintains the environment—provisioning compute, granting storage access and orchestrating workloads from internal and external sources. Within a shared space, users access datasets, algorithms, reusable code and documentation. Projects span data cataloguing, analytics and engineering tools, Agentic-AI platforms and LLMs, which together enable rapid development and testing while ensuring security and governance.
Beyond engineering, the EDC provides strategic consulting on computational power provisioning and platform suitability across the full lifecycle of data/AI projects—matching requirements to infrastructure, improving reliability and optimising spend.
