“Green Realtime Augmented Assistant Greenhouses”
The goal is to develop a proof of concept in which data about plants is visualized on-site for greenhouse workers using immersive technology, such as augmented reality (AR).
👉 To achieve this, a design trajectory was initiated with experts from our immersive experience team. Using a research-by-design approach, they explore how XR technologies combined with greenhouse data can have added value.
During the first design session in the Immersive Xperience Lab, the following experts joined forces:
- Frederike Manders – Program Manager Immersive Tech
- Marie Kegeleers – Immersive Tech Engineer
- Goda Mockute – AI Innovation & Partnerships Manager, Erasmus University Rotterdam
- Jan Verwoerd – Founder, 360Fabriek
- Joeri van den Hoek – Project Manager Robocrops, InnovationQuarter
- Harmen van Dam – Innovation Manager, Hortivation
- Jan Enthoven – Project Manager, Tomatoworld
Guided by the design thinking method, the session involved:
- Analyzing the target group
- Identifying needs and opportunities
- Anticipating obstacles
- Formulating short-term use cases and long-term ambitions
The work will be carried out in short, focused sprints to build a strong foundation for the next steps, including prototyping and future research.
“This project is a great example of how digital technologies, such as XR, combined with data, can be used in innovative applications. It also demonstrates how the IX-Lab brings together the necessary expertise to research and enhance the potential of such innovations,” says Frederike Manders.
If you would like to know more about this project or discuss how we could support your data visualization challenges with XR technology, feel welcome to contact Frederike.
