In this presentation, we discuss the use of VR in education through the lens of a recent pilot study. In this study, VR was used to help 160 students enrolled in the course Sustainable Marketing and Consumer Behavior experience the environmental impact of AI use and data centers.

On the one hand, we address the organisational aspects of using VR in education, such as the development of an appropriate VR experience and the technical support required during the sessions. On the other hand, we compare VR as a teaching method with a traditional learning method, namely reading text-based materials. We present findings related to both students’ learning experiences and learning outcomes.
