SDG GAME – Sustainable Development Goals

How can we better understand the Sustainable Development Goals and apply them meaningfully to our work and ambitions? 🌱

Yesterday, our ECDA team took part in the 2030 SDGs Game, an interactive, card-based simulation designed to bring the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to life. Developed by Imacocollabo in Japan, the game offers a hands-on way to explore how individual choices, team decisions, and systems-level interactions shape a more sustainable future.

The session opened with an inspiring introduction from Eva Rood, Director of the Positive Change Initiative at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, who explained to us how the SDGs were developed, and discussed their timeframes and interdependencies.

💡During the game, we stepped into different roles, tackled shared challenges, negotiated resources, and made decisions that influenced key global indicators such as the economy, environment, and society. The experience highlighted just how interconnected the 17 goals are and how important collaboration, communication, and strategic thinking are when addressing them in a balanced way.

For us, this experience was more than just a game. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on how the SDGs connect to our own ECDA framework, and how we can further embed sustainable thinking more intentionally into our daily work. Understanding these dynamics is essential to ensuring the impact we aim for, around the responsible and future-oriented use of technologies.

🚀 The SDGs guide us in using technologies responsibly by balancing people, nature, and prosperity, helping us strive for positive societal impact. They’re a valuable compass that keeps our ambitions aligned with a more sustainable world.
