SUMMARY:Smart & Social Fest
DESCRIPTION:Kunstmatige intelligentie (AI) beïnvloedt hoe we samenleven\, leren én werken. \n\n\n\n\nAanmelden

SUMMARY:The Influence of Digitalisation on Work\, Prosperity and Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION:Annual SSH-Breed Sectorplan Conference\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuilding on the success of the 1st Annual SSH-Breed Sectorplan Conference ‘The Influence of Digitalisation on Work\, Prosperity and Entrepreneurship’\, we will be hosting the 2nd Annual SSH-Breed Sectorplan Conference in Rotterdam on 24 April 2026 to continue the discussion of the promises\, challenges\, and societal impact of digitalisation. This year’s programme will be dedicated to three key themes in the field of digitalisation: Education\, Work and Automation.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Date and Time\n Friday 24 April 2026\, 9:00 – 17:00\n \n \n\n \n \n Location\n Forumzaal (M3-15)\, Van der Goot Building\, Campus Woudestein\, Erasmus University Rotterdam\n \n \n\n \n \n Event type\n \nConference\, no admission fee\, in English\, pre-registration mandatory\n\n \n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe conference is not limited to members of SSH-Breed\, but open to all who are interested. There is no admission fee\, but preregistration is mandatory. \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nBrochure-SSH-Breed-conference-page2\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEducation \n\n\n\nDigitalisation is changing how people learn in schools\, universities and beyond. New tools\, such as adaptive learning platforms\, help to widen access to education and improve the learning experience. At the same time\, questions arise about whether digitalisation generates a new divide of education\, how data are collected and used\, and how AI-enabled tools might reinforce existing biases.  \n\n\n\nDigital technologies are also reshaping the interaction in the classroom and the assessment of academic performance in ways that we do not yet fully understand. It is therefore important to discuss how digital literacy can be implemented and strengthened in our society. This panel looks at how education systems can make good use of digital technologies while still protecting equity\, inclusion and educational quality. \n\n\n\nWork \n\n\n\nDigitalisation is reshaping how work is organised in our society. New technologies empower individuals with more flexibility in their working lives\, enabling them to work from various locations and taking part in platform-based work. However\, new technologies and recent development also bring risks. For instance\, algorithmic management systems can increase efficiency\, but they also raise concerns about surveillance\, fairness\, and privacy at work. This panel delves into how employers\, workers\, and policy makers can respond to these changes and support sustainable and fair working conditions. \n\n\n\nAutomation \n\n\n\nAutomation can take over dangerous\, repetitive\, or complex tasks and free people to focus on other kinds of work. It can also improve accuracy\, reduce accidents\, and increase productivity in many sectors\, from manufacturing and logistics to healthcare and public services. Meanwhile\, automation raises challenging questions\, ranging from human autonomy to accountability. Automation makes some jobs disappear\, while the arising benefits of automation are not always fairly allocated. This panel explores how automation can be used in ways that benefit society\, while also addressing its disruptive effects and the need for clear rules and public oversight. \n\n\n\nResponsible Digitalisation with sleeves rolled up \n\n\n\nIn April\, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and Erasmus University Rotterdam are joining forces around the theme of responsible digitalisation: digital technology that contributes to societal value\, inclusivity\, and broad prosperity. This marks a first step toward a single regional platform in which government\, education\, science\, the business community\, and civil society organizations work together to raise awareness of the impact of digitalization\, strengthen mutual connections\, and encourage action around the responsible use of digital technology.  \n\n\n\nAhead of the SSH-Breed Sectorplan Conference\, the Smart & Social Fest will take place on Thursday 23 April\, organised by Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPhotography during the event \n\n\n\nPhotographs will be made during the Annual SSH-Breed Sectorplan Conference. It is possible that you are recognisable in the picture. As a visitor\, you give permission for the storage and use of these images for commercial purposes. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRegister
