SUMMARY:ECDA XP Spotlight Digital Business
DESCRIPTION:The topic of Artificial Intelligence increasingly is on the agenda of the executive board in Dutch firms. A proper blending of AI and human decision-making can provide important value to the firm\, however\, there are also still many questions and challenges in the adoption and use of AI. What factors drive the adoption of AI in Dutch companies\, and where do organizations face the biggest challenges? How can we bridge the gap between the board and the operation\, and what role can universities and Hogescholen play in the AI ecosystem innovation? \n\n\n\nThese factors will be discussed in a workshop that will take on October 4\, 2021 from 1600 until 1730 at the campus of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The workshop is hosted by the Erasmus Centre Data Analytics (ECDA) in close collaboration with the Dutch AI Startup Digital Sundai and the Kenniscentrum Business Innovation (KcBI)\, part of Hogeschool Rotterdam. \n\n\n\nBackground for the workshop is a survey study that was executed with support from the Dutch NLAIC coalition among 40 managers in the period March until May 2021\, followed up by interviews with advanced users of AI. A whitepaper with the key findings will be published after the workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme of workshop \n\n\n\n\nWelcome & introduction (by Gerrit Shipper\, ECDA)Results Study (by Robin Zondag\, Digital Sundai)   Academic Reflection (by Dr. Annie Yang)Discussion in table groups on key challengesPlenary recap & closureInformal Drinks\n\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop is aimed at CIOs and CTOs\, as well as managers and leads of data science / AI teams in (large) organizations. \n\n\n\nPlease register via the following Event Brite link \n\n\n\nWe look forward to meeting you again in person!

SUMMARY:Digital for the People - it's more than just tech
DESCRIPTION:Curious about what digital transition means for cities and their citizens? Then join this interactive session to explore how cities can enable it for their development and COVID-19 recovery. Hear from cities what digital transition is all about and what it looks like in practice. Whether you are a cutting-edge smart city or just starting your digital journey\, you can still learn what’s needed to enhance or start digital transition at city level\, and how this works in different contexts and policy areas. \n\n\n\nSession led by URBACT and the city of Valencia. \n\n\n\nFurther\, as part of the EU smart city project RUGGEDISED and in collaboration with the EU SCC-network of smart city projects and the EIP Smart Cities marketplace\, the Erasmus University Rotterdam researched and gathered data from more than 100 respondents in 80 European cities\, most municipality staff responsible for urban data platform development\, and 85% were partners in one of the EU SCC Lighthouse projects\, funded by the European Commission. The study concluded in mid-January 2020.  The study analysed the stage of development on urban data platforms; the vision behind these platforms; the business and technology design; the implementation barriers and accelerators\, and the use and impact of these platforms. This presentation provides the highlights of this study and especially touches upon the human role in achieving value from urban data.
